Joining the Davis Vision network offers an outstanding opportunity to grow your practice by providing vision care services to our members.

Our vision care plans offer low out-of-pocket costs and access to a large network of eye care professionals.
Eye care professionals pay no fee to join our network, nor are any fees withheld for continued participation.

You may also contact us at 1 (800) 584-3140 to request an application. Submit the completed application and all requested paperwork. The process of contracting and credentialing a new eye care professional includes source verification and validation of eye care professional qualifications and are performed on all applications, per Davis Vision’s NCQA-certified credentialing process. The process of contracting with a new eye care professional is usually completed in 90 days or less.
Davis Vision’s selection of the most qualified ophthalmologists and optometrists in our network is accomplished through an extensive application and NCQA-certified credentialing process.
Davis Vision collects, validates and submits all documentation, history and quality data for review by the Credentialing Committee. Source verification of education, licensure, board certification and DEA registration (where applicable) is obtained and the National Practitioner Data Bank is queried for all applicants. The Credentialing Committee conducts an assessment of each eye care professional’s credentials based upon pre-established guidelines of professional qualifications and office qualifications deemed necessary to provide quality patient care.
The credentialing and recredentialing of eye care professional is ongoing to ensure to quality of care provided by our network eye care professionals. Recredentialing, conducted every three years, is based on a review of updated documentation (licensure, National Practitioner Data Bank inquiry, malpractice history, etc.), as well as reports generated through the patient satisfaction feedback mechanism and Davis Vision’s Quality Assurance Program, including site visits.
Davis Vision’s Excel Advantage™ program offers eye care professionals the opportunity to purchase frames and safety frames at significant discounts. Davis Vision’s exclusive frame collection is provided to network providers at no cost, and is designed for use as an extension of their own frame inventory. With our Excel Advantage program, providers can purchase additional collection frames for their private patients, saving on the cost of additional inventory.

Excel Advantage frame orders are never subject to additional shipping charges. Order one frame, or 100. There are no minimum order requirements. Order as you need them. No need to tie up your money in standing inventory. Orders usually ship within 48 hours.

Recruiting efforts may include mailing eye care professional applications and recruitment materials with telephone or email communications. Names and addresses of potential practitioners and eye care professionals may be drawn from, but not limited to, the following sources:
When expedited eye care professional recruitment is necessary (particularly to prevent an interruption of patient care), an eye care professional recruitment associate may telephone a practitioner directly and encourage the practitioner to submit an application. The associate would typically:
Criteria for recruitment decisions
Recruitment decisions are not based upon race, ethnicity, gender, age or sexual orientation. Davis Vision does not charge practitioners any membership or administrative fees, nor is any portion of schedule payment withheld. Davis Vision does not discriminate against eye care professionals that serve high-risk populations or specialize in conditions that require costly treatment.
Recruitment decisions are made solely on the basis of a practitioner’s qualifications, quality of care, and geographic need of the network. Oversaturation is avoided to ensure each practitioner an adequate share of the market.

As a reminder, MetLife has added Davis Vision and Superior Vision plans to its vision product offerings in addition to their Vision PPO plan. Patients may simply convey that they have MetLife Vision and not understand the distinction between these three plans. As a result, you may have to ask the patient if they know which of the plans they have. For further details, please refer to the reminder notice in your “Portal Announcements” after logging in.
