FAQs

Davis Vision has partnered with InstaMed to give eye care professionals the Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) as a means of posting 835 claims information in a variety of formats, eliminating the need for paper. Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) provides for electronic payments to be sent directly from Davis Vision to a participating eye care professional’s bank account. EFT is safe, secure, efficient, and less expensive than paper check payments and collections. Eye care professionals will be able to eliminate receiving paper checks and EOPs and will have access to a Web-based portal to view these transactions.

Participation in Integrated ERA/EFT is not currently mandatory, but will soon be where not prohibited by law. Participation is strongly encouraged because eliminating paper costs and improving timeliness through automation will enable us to more efficiently support our valued eye care professionals.

You can sign up for Integrated ERA/EFT online or submit a completed enrollment form. The enrollment form will request information regarding your preferred method of ERA receipt, bank account, and routing data, as well as a copy of a voided check.

Davis Vision is providing Integrated ERA/EFT free of charge to our participating eye care professionals.

InstaMed is independently certified as a Payment Card Industry Level One Service Provider and as SSAE16 Type II. InstaMed has full financial (FSAP) and healthcare (HNAP) accreditations by the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). Additionally, InstaMed is certified by the Visa Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) and the MasterCard Site Data Protection (SDP) Program.

InstaMed’s portal is a value-added, easy-to-use site to view all of your ERA/EFT™ transactions, and essentially automate the remittance posting and funds transfer process. This portal gives you the ability to print and generate on-demand reports, and download reports to Excel.

The Electronic Funds transfer can be distributed to only one bank account per Tax ID.

When you enroll in ERA/EFT, you will receive an informative email that includes a link to a training video. It is approximately 13 minutes in length, and walks you through the login process, the various screens, and how best to utilize the ERA/EFT Solution. This video is also available on Davis Vision’s ERA/EFT information landing page. InstaMed’s portal also has a User Guide and Quick Reference Guide for an overview of the system and details on any questions you may have.

Integrated ERA/EFT is provided through a partnership between Davis Vision and InstaMed, so there are different contacts depending on the specific issue.

There are certain groups who have contracted specific business arrangements with us that obligate us to provide live checks. In those incidences, an eye care professional might receive both electronic and paper checks.

If no payment is made on a claim (e.g., in the event of a duplicate or denied claim), there is no electronic transfer of funds. Therefore, the eye care professional will not receive an electronic remittance advice. Instead, a paper EOP is sent to the eye care professional.
